Two of Reading’s parks and open spaces have been recognised as amongst the best in the country again by receiving coveted Green Flag Award status.

For a eighth year is a row, Forbury Gardens, and for the fourth year since re-opening, Caversham Court, have both received the award. The awards mean both parks are well maintained, well managed and have excellent facilities.

To be given Green Flags, parks or open spaces have to demonstrate not only that standards are maintained but that continuous improvements are being achieved.

The Green Flag is recognition of excellence in six important areas: high-quality horticulture, cleanliness, sustainable practices, being welcoming, being safe, and encouraging community involvement.
