Reading Borough Council planting bulbs and trees
0Reading Borough Council is planting 300,000 bulbs and over 50 trees to enhance Council Housing neighbourhoods.
The £110,000 programme is being funded by the Housing Decent Neighbourhood Fund, which uses money from tenants’ rent to make improvements based on recommendations from local people.
Additional landscaping including clearance work and path building will focus on improvements in safety and accessibility.
Trees being planted include ornamental spring flowering cherries, pear and crab apple as well as larger trees that will last for hundreds of years, like oak and lime. New flower displays will incorporate daffodils, crocuses and gladioli.
Recent bulb planting has been taking place in a variety of locations around town, including Southcote, Tilehurst, Caversham and Whitley.
