Reading Bookstart Week June 24 – 30
0Reading’s libraries have organised events with a fairy tale theme for children and their families, with the aim of encouraging them to help discover the joys of reading books.
Special fairy tale rhymetime and story sessions are taking place at Battle Library in Oxford Road on Friday, June 28th, from 10am-10.30am and 11.15am- 11.45am. Children are encouraged to go along dressed as their favourite fairy tale character and there will be a prize for the best dressed boy or girl.
All children will receive a free fairy tale book, sticker and colouring sheet.
There is no need to book and entry is free but you will need to arrive early as places are limited.
Bookstart aims to help every child develop a lifelong love of books. There is plenty of information, including posters, colouring sheets and suggested activities, on the Bookstart website www.bookstart.org.uk
There are currently three packs available – a baby pack (0-12 months), Bookstart Corner pack (18-24 months, targetted through children’s centres) and a Treasure pack (36-48 months).
